e Tick – Lyme disease risk map shows you where the ticks live

Things are warming up in BC and due to the cold spring, some can expect a late start to the tick season this year. ‘e Tick’ is a new program from the BC Centre for Disease Control and has lots of useful tips for dealing with ticks and reducing risks.

Lyme disease risk map, enter a location to see if it’s a risk area for Borrelia burgdorferi.

Protect yourself from ticks and bites:

  • Use insect repellant with DEET or Icaridin.
  • Walk on cleared trails.
  • Wear light-coloured clothing, tucking your pants into boots or socks.
  • When you leave an area where ticks could be found, check your whole body for ticks and put your clothes in a hot dryer for 10 minutes to kill any leftover ticks.

Visit the BCCDC’s Tick Talk to learn more about ticks and Lyme disease.
